King-Sand is the exclusive solution devised by DPS Solving Flooring Division for elegant sealed joints for raised floors. The King-Sand system now comes with a new configuration that is even easier and cheaper to install.
King-Sand was devised to resolve the issue of dirt and foliage infiltrating raised flooring and that of water stagnation on ceramic tiles.
The new King-Sand system involves the combined application of:
• the King-Rubber gasket
• Alliance's Gator Tile Sand polymer sand
Simple and quick installation: how to create elegant sealed joints on elevated flooring
The King-Rubber gasket fits easily into the joints between the tiles simply by applying pressure. Its concave configuration forms the perfect base for the special Gator Tile Sand polymer sand that is poured and compacted within the grout line above the fitted gasket.
The solidification process is activated by wetting the sand distributed between the joints with cold water, creating elegant non-draining sealed joints with an exclusive and sophisticated stucco effect for elevated flooring.
Advantages of sealed joints for raised flooring: protection against dirt intrusion
The creation of sealed joints on raised flooring prevents dirt and foliage from entering beneath the tiles, greatly simplifying cleaning operations without causing annoying and dangerous accumulations on the substrate that would otherwise require periodic removal.
Nonetheless, it is still possible to inspect the elevated flooring by simply wetting the polymer sand with water heated to 60° C to activate the reverse process and easily remove the tiles.
Joints in polymeric sand interrupt the surface tension of stagnant water
In addition, the polymer sand interrupts the surface tension of any stagnant water on the surface of the ceramic tiles thanks to the bevelling of the tiles themselves. The polymer sand used to fill the joints breaks this tension along the edges of the tiles, promoting the movement of water towards the perimeter of the pavement and its subsequent runoff.
It is always recommended to ensure the flooring has a 1% gradient.
Even on its own, King-Rubber is a strong ally against the infiltration of dirt and foliage
The King-Rubber seal can also be utilised without polymer sand thanks to its anti-intrusion effect that prevents leaves/dirt from infiltrating the raised flooring, resulting in typical open joints of elevated paving.
